Woo Hoo!

Hello again everyone!  I'm having many Woo Hoo moments today. One is I made it through surgery, and woke up! Woo Hoo!  It's been a rough recovery though.  The first day home, without thinking, I twisted to grab a falling water bottle and ripped one of my incisions.  My tummy looks like it's been beat black and blue.  2nd hard lesson in recovery: Do not take pain med on empty stomach. Yes I did and it set off a bout of nausea/dizziness which lasted 2 days.  I quit all meds cold turkey.  Been painful but I'm surviving.

My other woo hoo moment is--- we finally found a house! God led us to this house.  When we were driving around there a couple of weeks ago,  I noticed a for sale sign and pulled a flyer.  Upon returning home, we called the realtor.  Come to find out, the listing was expiring last Wednesday.  By Thurs. we were striking a deal.  An answer to my prayer of "let me sell my house and find another one before surgery."  Well, isn't God humorous?   Ok, I didn't specify how long before my surgery.  He answered 12 hours before. His time line is not ours anyway.
So here are some pictures.  This will be transformed when decorated.  But you can see the good bones it has.  Need ideas, especially for the kitchen.  Black granite and the oak stained cabinets (think that's oak?) are my least favorite in a kitchen.
Not liking that little thingy over the sink either.  I mean, who puts those in newer houses any more?  Sorry if you have one, I just don't like my window blocked.  The crazy thing is, we've never been inside this house!  Has anyone ever done this?  We based our decision on the market, the area, the realtor's opinion, and the pics.  So send me your suggestions and remember a rental means no major changes.  Probably not even paint if the doc has anything to do with it.
Oh boy, now the packing starts.  It'll be a slow process so my blogging will be limited.  My  next Woo Hoo moment will be when I'm unpacked in the new house.

I'm so glad your surgery is over and you are mending. So sorry you ripped a stitch, ouch! So much going on in your life....

Glad you found a home for you to settle your family. The house has great bones and I'm sure that no matter what you do to personalize it for your family, it will be beautiful. Think of it all as blogging opportunities :) to share.

Thank you so much for linking this post to Woo Hoo! Wednesday and letting us all know what's going on. We know how busy life is for you right now so keep us updated whenever you can. You and your family will be in my prayers. I know how hard it is to move. Hugs, Marla

Glad that you are recovering and found a house. Our neighbor purchased a house without ever going inside and without photos. He drove by when the sign went up. It's a lovely old home built in the late 1800s. They have spent the last ten years restoring it and the gardens to the original right down to putting new wood siding on. Since it's in the historic district, everything has to be approved by the board, hence the slow progress. Have fun with the new place.

Best,
Bonnie

I am glad your surgery is over. But, girl, you take it easy and let yourself heal! No super woman moves and trying to save flying water bottles!

And a big Woohoo on the house! It looks wonderful and you will have fun turning it into your own! Congrats!

I feel the same way about pain med's..with my recent surgery, they just made me so sick, I threw them all away too. What a waste of money in this country!
Love the new place, very pretty..so are you renting it or buying it? I'm sure You'll have it all pretty in no time! God is so good to us! Come say hi :D

Tammy, I know what your mean about schools. We are fortunate to live in a suburb of Chicago that has outstanding schools. A big savings in tuition. Our boys received an excellent education, are now out of college and happily married. Schools are still outstanding which makes for good resale.

When we lived in the south, we had to be really careful about where we lived or bite the bullet and go the private route. Of course, I feel that all public education should be excellent but it isn't, alas!

Best,
Bonnie

Woohoo....on finding a house and woohoo that you are on the mend. The house is very pretty with a beautiful yard. I like the kitchen. Just fill it with things you love!

The last time I took pain medication I had a horrible reaction to it and I stopped immediately. Ugh!

I'm glad you are feeling better, my friend. So sorry you had problems...I was praying for you, guess you might have ripped stitches instead of just one, if nobody was praying for you.;o)
I think that house is just LOVELY! And I think it's a great kitchen, not perfect, whose is, but wow...nice and big with an eating bar and an island. I love the fridge, it's like mine. Once you are in it with all of your lovely decorative items put in place, it will look SO much better. You have a lovely decorators touch, that's what it needs.
BIG Hugs, Cindy

Glad to hear the surgery went well.

What colors are in the black granite? Sometimes there is tan, or dark blue or green. A friend painted her cabinets (the same wonderful oak color) a light creamy green to go with the green flecks in the dark granite.

above is a link with some pics of light cabinets with dark granite. Hope this helps get the ideas going!

I too am recovering from surgery this week and I also managed to reach for something and pulled something and the pain started over again. So I am trying to take it super easy today.
I have oak cabinets in my current house. I thought I was going to paint them until I changed the color of my kitchen walls and now I love the warmth of the oak. There are pictures of before and after of my kitchen on my blog Three Dogs At Home if you want to check it out.
I hope your recovery goes more smoothly from here on out.

I can't believe we had the same surgery on the same day. How weird. I am back to eating which is something I did not do too much of during the 3 weeks before surgery but my ribs over the gall bladder area are still super sore. I am going thrifting with my neighbor this afternoon. I have to get out of this house. Hopefully I won't over do.
I watched the slide show of the home you sold. It is a lovely home. Thanks for joining up to follow the fun on my blog I will be doing the same. Don't over do today.

Tammy, glad the post was helpful. But most of the time, the words are needed MOSTLY for myself. I am facing the biggest trial ever in my life, but I know God is there...walking right beside me. Yet I still need reminders! Hope you have a wonderful week.
